Inkjet Printable BD-R, Blu-ray media is popular for consumer and professionals alike. With the introduction of inkjet printers that are capable of printing on the surface of the BD-R in high resolution, previously this was only available in professional duplication equipment costing thousands of dollars, it is now possible to print photo realistic images on the surface of blank Blu-ray Disc media. White inkjet is the most popular because a white background is the same as printing on a white piece of paper. Inkjet surfaces can be standard or hub printable. The center of a BD-R has a clear plastic section about 1-1/2 inches in diameter, this is called the "hub". Usually there is a groove, called a "stacking ring" surrounding the hub that prevents printing beyond that point. HUB Printable BD-Rs do not have a stacking ring and therefore can be printed in the hub. This provides a larger printing area and is preferred by users that print photos or need full coverage on the surface of the BD-R. Keep in mind that your printer must be capable of printing inside the hub. This usually involves changing the default setting of the printer. Every printer is different so check your manual and settings before assuming that you can print in the hub.
